The village of regen·era docks at Gateway Mendocino in Hopland, California amongst weeping willows, a swimmable pond, natural building and solar-powered infrastructure. Set within a thriving ecological remediation site, the landscape itself becomes part of the invitation to imagine and embody more regenerative ways of living together.

For the past seven months, the artists, designers, cultural producers and worldbuilders of the Design Science Studio have been developing visionary projects for regenerative futures. regen·era Rising marks the culmination of that journey, featuring project launches, immersive experiences, social sculptures, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes and opportunities to engage directly with the creators shaping what comes next. Alongside this year's graduating coheART, experiences and projects from across the broader Design Science Studio ecosystem will be woven throughout the village, drawing from more than 280 projects incubated through DSS over the course of the Design Science Decade. Together with pARTners, mentors, alumni, collaborators and close allies, we gather not only to celebrate what is emerging, but to participate in a collective rite of passage within the Regenaissance and recommit ourselves to the work of creating more just, beautiful and thriving futures. Your presence matters. Culture is not something we consume from the sidelines. It is something we create together.

Taking place during the 250th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, regen·era Rising invites us to explore what interdependence, civic imagination and collective flourishing might mean in our time. What becomes possible when we move beyond individualism and begin designing for relationship, reciprocity and mutual thriving?

regen·era is a floating city and living story-world imagined into being by the Design Science Studio. Powered by collective imagination, regenerative design and radical hope, it serves as a temporary prototype for the futures we are here to create together. Each year the city re-emerges, inviting participants to suspend disbelief and step into their role as co-authors of thriving futures.

regen·era is a floating city created by the Design Science Studio, an educational incubator for art that empowers creators to imagine a regenerative future that works for all life.

Our quest is to give birth to the Regenaissance, a cultural emergent movement that seeks to transform the way in which we think and live in society, redefining our relationship with each other and the planet.

regen·era is a city like no other. Our city runs through a synergistic balance of technology and nature. Here, curiosity is virtue and kindness the law. Here, we align with nature, the seasons, the cycles of life, and move in harmony with the living world.

Our city was built through the shared imaginations of hundreds of rEvolutionary co-creators, who all sought to answer the same question…

What does a world that works for ALL of Life look like?

Imagine a long weekend spent swimming in a pond beneath weeping willows, sharing regenerative meals, gathering around campfires, encountering immersive art, engaging in meaningful conversations and participating in a temporary village dedicated to regenerative futures. Equal parts summit, campout, celebration and living laboratory, regen·era Rising invites participants into a culture of curiosity, creativity, connection and collective imagination. Expect immersive art, performances, special musical guests, Afrofuturist and solarpunk storytelling, thought leadership, salons, workshops, land rituals, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes, worldbuilding experiences, radical play and unexpected encounters—all woven into a living experiment in what regenerative culture can feel like when we create it together.

Artists, designers, systems shapers, civic innovators, worldbuilders, entrepreneurs, futurists, educators, technologists, regenerators, cultural producers and curious humans from across the Bay Area and beyond into the global commUnity. Together with the Design Science Studio, the Buckminster Fuller Institute and habRitual, pARTners including Declare — Project Interdependence, Amplifier Art, Denizen, Climate Designers, Catalist, Vision Train, MAPS, Burners Without Borders, Hylo, RegenIntel, OpenCivics and many others are helping weave this emergent village into being.

To support the intimacy, trust and participatory nature of the gathering, attendance is curated through a short application process. Everyone over 18 must apply while registering, individually. Any young folk under 18 or sprouts will need to come accompanied by an adult. Capacity is intentionally limited to a maximum of 350 including all team and volunteers to cultivate a commUnity of pARTicipants excited to engage, contribute and help shape the village experience. Camping, day passes, work exchange opportunities and limited low-income tickets are available. Due to limited parking there is a parking fee. Carpooling is encouraged and if a car has 4 people, parking is free!

For one weekend, creators of regenerative futures gather to celebrate what has been built, launch what is emerging and practice the world we wish to inhabit. This is a moment to reconnect with your imagination, your agency, your community and your role in shaping what comes next.
